This March 23-25, 2018
, we are sending SIX EMERGING YOUTH LEADERS
from the Filipino-Toronto community to SARILING GAWA, an international youth conference for Filipinos in Oahu, Hawaii.
For almost 40 years, “Sariling Gawa magic” takes over in Hawaii as Filipino-American youth come together for a weekend of collaborative leadership training rooted in community love and Filipino values.WHY FILIPINO YOUTH & WHY US?
Our community is strong in numbers with close to 300,000 Filipinos in the Greater Toronto Area - and our group is among those leading the youth generation to innovate the ways we proudly celebrate and lead from our Filipino roots.
(Scroll down & check for updates to meet the delegates!)
• We are a dynamic group
of young Filipino/a/x trailblazers fostering vibrant leadership at both the local and international level.
• We are dreamers,
builders, initiators, community cultivators, and collectively a catalyst for change.
• We put community first
and we work together in to strengthen the Filipino-Canadian identity and futures at schools, universities, in arts & culture, mainstream media, governance and more.WHY SARILING GAWA YOUTH CONFERENCE IN HAWAII?
In Hawaii, we will learn from the youth leaders and founders’ unique and extremely successful model of leadership training for youth of Philippine descent, and ultimately bring back this knowledge so that we can lead the way towards a stronger, louder, and more powerful next generation of Filipino-Canadian leaders with our own youth camp here: self-made and our own camp with a Toronto twist.
Going to Sariling Gawa to learn from & with brilliant Filipino youth and mentors in Hawaii will be a priceless
learning opportunity, but as students, recent graduates, and underemployed workers - we need your help to actually make it there.
By supporting us in going to Sariling Gawa Youth Council’s 38th Conference, you are ensuring that the future of our Filipino-Toronto community is BRIGHT.You can make this bright future possible.
A donation to this group fundraiser is an investment in our Filipino Canadian community.
Maraming Salamat & Thank You!------> Would you rather make a donation offline? Send us a direct message!

Given that Sariling Gawa’s youth and board members are committing a substantial amount of time to developing our youth initiatives in Toronto, including time during their annual conference, we believe it is fair to contribute to their organization with this donation. They are entirely volunteer run, and this aids in their own fundraising efforts for their Hawaii-based work.TOTAL FUNDRAISING GOAL…………………………………….$8500
The theme of the 2018 Sariling Gawa conference is:
RISE - RECOGNIZE, INVOLVE, STRENGTHEN, and EMPOWER.
We hope that you will RECOGNIZE
the incredible opportunity in front of us. By going to Hawaii, our group will discover and learn new ways to INVOLVE
the capacity of Filipino youth in Toronto. Ultimately, your donation will EMPOWER
us to reach higher in all that we pursue.Maraming Salamat & Thank You for your community support!____________
