Tornado in the pan handle destroyed our home

My name is Brigette White. I moved to

Panama City beach, Florida from Louisville, Kentucky in June 2023, only months after I experienced the worst tragedy of my life. So I needed a change of environment . By some twist of fate, I ended up meeting my other half, who coincidentally had also experienced the same tragedy I had just experienced. He had also just recently moved to Panama City from Kentucky. We had so much struggle starting out, but finally started feeling some relief from the pressures life had thrown at us. Finally able to sign a lease on our first apartment together in November, things seemed to be looking up. But in the blink of the eye, a tornado rips through lower grand lagoon and we were on the direct route where that tornado destroyed whatever was in its path. Luckily we were able to take cover in the small storage closet under our stairs only moments before our roof was completely ripped off and every window busts out. Having to climb over a palm tree that blocked our doorway, into the very damaged, and barely drivable vehicle and was able to maneuver through the massive debris and downed power lines, but we were able to escape to safer ground. It’s a blessing we did leave when we did, cause as we watch the aftermath on the local news, it appears that our entire apartment building had since completely collapsed. Unsure what, if anything can be salvaged at this point. But by the looks of the footage we’ve seen of the area, I would assume there will be very little, if anything that we can recover. Once again, those boys were looking out for us ❤️ In these few hours after this natural disaster, we are lost and unsure what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated as we attempt to put the pieces back together yet again.

update- Life will kick you while your down. No stable housing, no transportation, and no ability to move forward from this event at this time. In case any others are devastated from this event, there’s no assistance available for replacement or recovery due to the small amount of the population it affected. Trying our best to stay positive and hopeful that this will work out and we’ll get thru this. A daunting task knowing we really have nothing to build upon.
