Many of you know Tom Pisa . He has been my Partner and Best Friend for over 36 years. We were legally married 4 years ago.
In the last 5 years Tom has Severed his foot from his leg, been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, has contracted an Auto Immune Disease called Pemphigus Valgaris that blisters his skin as seen in the picture. Has recently been diagnosed with the beginning stage of Alzheimer’s and now has been in the hospital all of Christmas Week with a MRSA infection. Then back in the hospital all last week with another infection called C-Def. With his Auto Immune Disease his body cannot fight these infections. C-Def has left him with a condition of having no control over his bowels and causes constant diarrhea.
Thanks to our Health System and there connection to Insurance Companies, Tom was discharged last Saturday . He is now home and in terrible need of an
aide to be there daily. Though out the day his body just releases diarrhea and every morning he wakes up laying in liquid diarrhea.
Tom can only get around in an electric wheelchair. This means that he cannot clean him self after this happens. So he is forced to sit or lay in waste for hours at a time.
I have to keep working just to keep my health insurance and make money to keep us fed and the lights on.
Medicare doesn’t pay for the aides that Tom needs and though out the last 5 years we have been forced to spend all of our resources on his medical conditions. He takes over 40 prescriptions a day. This causes Tom to go into the “ Donut” usually by June or July so the rest of the year his meds cost us as much a most people’s house payment. His MANY hospital stays and ambulance rides have cost hundreds of thousands dollars.
PLEASE find it in your hearts to help keep Tom home with his dogs and familiar surroundings. It is the last thing that he wants. Tom has helped THOUSANDS of friends and strangers though out his life. Now he needs your help just to stay safe.
