Hello! My name is Tom Ray. I never thought this would be my journey! Did I say "CANCER SUCKS!" My life changed drastically in November 2012. My family heard those most dreaded words, "you have cancer," stage 4 prostate cancer, which has spread to the hipbone.
Treatment consisted of radiation therapy for 10 days followed by Firmagon ( a testosterone lowing drug), and Xgeva (a bone strengthening) shot that I will need the rest of my life. We had always heard how bad "Cancer Sucks," but we had no idea how it would change our lives forever.
Before "cancer sucks," I enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, target shooting and a number of other outdoor activities. I have been married 32 years, am a father to three boys and a girl. My daughter, who is disabled, needs constant assistance with tasks of daily living. I have six gorgeous grandchildren that I love to spoil, but I do miss being able to play and do the things I used to be able to do.
Last year, I was cancer free; however, yesterday we received the devastating news the cancer had returned. My doctor would like to try a new experimental procedure of withdrawing my blood, mixing with a cancer-fighting agent, and then infusing it back into me, all within the next month. Along with this, doc wants a new oral medication with a cost of $9000. a month.
With the mounting medical bills and the newest options, no donation is too small and we would appreciate any help you find in your heart to contribute. Every dollar helps!
