She is 16 years old, a sweetheart, an honor student at Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock, and a proud, active member of the American Heart Association’s Sweetheart Program. Alongside other young women, she helped raise over $100,000 in donations to support heart health this year.

Now, this bright and compassionate girl, Alexia, is facing the fight of her life. After two surgeries to remove growing tumors in her abdomen, her case has been recognized as medically unique. There are no other known cases like hers currently documented in Arkansas or even in the United States.

She was referred to Boston Children’s Hospital, where specialists confirmed that her condition doesn’t match any known cancer or tumor type. With no standard treatment protocol to follow, her doctors are now starting a chemotherapy plan based on Boston’s guidance, though there’s no guarantee it will work. It’s the only option they have right now.

Her mother has also requested the involvement of one of the most respected doctors at UAMS, Dr. T, in hopes that his expertise may bring additional insight or hope. However, due to the unusual nature of the case, it’s still uncertain whether this will be possible.

Her mother has been by her side every step of the way, sacrificing work and financial stability to be with her daughter during every hospital stay, test, and treatment. leaving her mom to carry the full weight of both the emotional and economic burden alone.

Through all this, Alexia remains strong, but what breaks her heart the most is missing school. She dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist and is known by all who meet her as a joyful, intelligent, and responsible young woman. She’s not only a top student but a bright light in her community, loved and admired by many for her social involvement and kind spirit.
