Help Extend Toast's Life

Toast is a 6-year-old bloodhound recently diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. This is an aggressive form of cancer, with a median survival time of only a few short months without chemotherapy. I am hoping to raise money to fund her treatment so that I can provide her with a happy, dignified life for as long as possible.

Full background:
Two weeks ago (6/5/15), Toast began vomiting, panting, and acting distressed. An x-ray and abdominal ultrasound revealed that the cause was a large mass on her spleen. The ultrasound also showed two smaller masses on her liver. The indicated treatment was a splenectomy: removal of her spleen and the mass itself. Unfortunately, due to their locations, the masses on the liver could not be removed. Toast went in to surgery on Monday, June 8th, and has been recovering wonderfully.
All of the masses were biopsied, and few days after surgery I received a call with the results. Had the masses been benign, surgery would have been curative. To everyone’s disappointment, this was not the case, and a diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma was made. Without chemotherapy, the estimated survival time of a dog with splenic hemangiosarcoma is 19-86 days.
Why I need your help:
The initial consult, surgery, and recovery cost over $6,000. Chemotherapy and monitoring of the progression of metastatic disease will cost an additional few thousand dollars. I am a full-time student, without sufficient income to cover these expenses. I recently graduated from Cornell University, having worked as a tutor in organic chemistry and biochemistry for two years. This money has gone towards Toast’s treatment. With Toast’s assistance (here she is helping me study for a biochem exam), I maintained these jobs, my busy schedule, and my grades. This April, I received an award for having the highest GPA in my major (Biological Sciences), and this May I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Distinction in Research. My family's ability to assist me is limited, and I firmly believe that these accomplishments would not have been possible without the support that having Toast in my life afforded. She is young, strong, and she has helped me fight through years of difficult circumstances. I am determined to help her do the same.
Please, help extend my dog’s life.
