Tim Haywood's Hospice Care Fund

Hello my name is Zach Haywood. I am the proud son of a great man named Tim Haywood. This past year has been rough on my father, Tim. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in June of 2015 and had immediate surgery to remove a very large tumor in his colon. He then got news that he would need to receive chemotherapy because the cancer is a very aggressive type and it had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. He started a type of chemo and after3 months and multiple complications from it, he was given a different type of chemo. By this time around October of 2015, Tim had to get his gallbladder removed where he found out that the cancer had spread to the lining of his abdomen.

After receiving this other type of chemo for about 6 months, Tim had a scan that showed the cancer had cleared up in his liver but it had spread in the lining of his abdomen. This showed that the cancer had adapted to the chemo and therefore the chemo was not effective.

At this time there was a new type of chemo that just came out at the end of 2015 and they decided to start Tim on this new chemo. It was in pill form so dad did not have to travel into town to receive chemo. After 2 months, more complications, and 2 blood transfusions dad was taken off of this new type of chemo.

At a recent visit, the cancer doctor informed my father that this new type was only hurting him as it was bringing his blood counts too low. The doctor told Tim that there were no other types of chemo out there, they were out of options as far as chemo. Tim was given 6 months by the cancer doctor and hospice was contacted. Hospice has assigned Tim a nurse and he is in the process of getting equipment in as to make daily routine things easier for him to do. He has received oxygen tanks and he was told as of Sunday to keep it on 24/7. He has been given morphine in a pill form to keep him comfortable and the hospice nurse checks up on him 2 days out of the week.

My father and the Haywood family is a proud family. We do not ask for anything and we help other people when we can. My father would not agree with me doing this but it is the only way I can think to help him and my family out. I am a college student so I cannot afford to help them financially with all the bills that are piling up. The money raised for this will help pay for his hospice care and insurance which is being paid out of pocket and it definitely is not cheap.

As much as it hurts me to ask for financial help I am asking that if you could donate, just a little bit, it would be so greatly appreciated. You all do not realize how much help it will be for them. My father has become very nervous and anxious in these recent days so he constantly worries about things like finances all the time. So I feel that if I can raise a good amount of money that it will ease his mind at least a little bit. In advance, I also ask for prayers, which are most important. Please pray for my father and my family as we go through this very difficult time. Thanks you all in advance and God bless.
