Hello Family and Friends, 

It's T!

I was recently invited (as in 2 weeks ago) to accompany my former professor on a trip to South Africa. Together we'd be building a transnational community with scholars, educators, social workers, and psychologists. 

This invitation came in the midst of being in a rough mental space. Within the last 2 months, I found out that I did not get the Fulbright fellowship, my fulbright mentor was killed, and my identity had been stolen. This invitation was a saving grace in my constant state of crisis. 

My trip is March 17th-28th. We will be flying standby and my ticket is $500. My vaccines are not covered by my insurance and amount to about $300. The rest of the funds raised would be for any other expenses that may arise during my 10 day stay.

It has been a long arduous path being the first in my immediate family (matirilineally)--The first woman to graduate college and the first to get into grad school. And frankly I am tired. I do know that without the love, support, and encouragement of my community, all of this would not be possible. 

2015 was the first time I was able to travel outside of the state, and this will be my first time traveling abroad. 

This past year I have been practicing vulnerability (which isn't my strong suit) and I am vulnerably asking for any support by making a donation and/or sharing.
