Thomas lamontagne benefit for Benjamin Lamontagne
Hello Fam,
My youngest brother Ben Lamontagne (27) went into the emergency room on Thursday 1/30 will spells of numbness on one side and metalic taste in his mouth. After some scans, its been determined he has a brain tumor.
Well...I never thought I'd have to use those two words, back to back, to describe something affecting my baby brother.
There are many kinds of tumors, and unfortunately Ben doesnt have medical insurance, so the hospital released him without a biopsy. Furthermore, with the severity of this diagnosis, no doctor will even see him untill this lack of insurance is taken care of.and
At this point, we've been on the phone with an inumerable amount of people, put on hold, transfered, just trying to find some hoops to jump though so he can be insured. If you thought the medical insurance industry was confusing before, talk to me about it now.
Yet, hope remains.
With open enrollment closed merely a couple weeks ago, our only option now seems to be appying for medicaid. To be approved for medicad one has to make less than $17k or 1,200 a month, and its not even a gaurentee to be accepted.
This means, in order for a Doctor to even consider seeing my brother to further determine the type of tumor in his brain, he has to quit his job.
So he did.
Its only been one visit and the tab is already ~$5k, and now Ben cant work in hopes of medicaid.
My father, mother and I are going to do our best, but were only 3 humans...
Its increadibly diffucult asking for help, but its moments like these that are quite humbling...
Please help.
Anything helps.
-So much love and appreciation,
The Lamontagne Family
