At age 39 with no children of her own and always about family & friends. She’s always been the one that is a call, text or email away. She is always thinking of everything and everyone before herself. She can even be a bit stubborn when it comes to making sure she is ok before others.
Where to begin? How about, October of 2019 she was feeling a bit off as she called it. She promised to go to the doctors. She neglected to keep that promise. She had so many reasons but one only was for herself. That’s is her love for Halloween and her last year of being her 30s was about to start on the 28th of the month.
Then came November. Her excuses were she was feeling a little bit better, mom’s 68th birthday and of course the Thanksgiving holiday.
Next thing you know it is December of 2019. She’s getting weak. Mom is making calls scared and crying. Worried that her first blood born child was extremely sick. She was having shortening of breathe and sleeping more and more. Being that the person Mom called was 1,006 miles away there was only so much they could do. The calls were made again promises were made.
However, of course the promise was broken because Angela has two nephews that she is a part of daily and she is always their Santa Clause. She isn’t working because she had gotten so sick in November but still kept saying she was fine.
Mom whom she lives with was in a bad accident so the only vehicle for them was wrecked only five days before Christmas. Needless to say the holiday comes and goes.
Now, she baby sister is reaching out to the same person that mom called before 1,006 miles away.
The baby sister tells the person how bad it really is and well this person decided they were going to call to have a well being/welfare check done on Angela, if they didn’t get her to the hospital right away. This person called a friend in their area and made it known that they needed help too. There was no turning back to an excuse after this
Finally on January 1st 2020 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Angela was admitted to Ft Walton Beach Medical Center (FWBMC) in Ft Walton Beach, Florida.
Her hemoglobins were at a 4
Her blood sugar was at 192/194
They found a mass on her cervix and the size was abnormally large.
Ok so now Angela has called the person 1,006 miles away. Angela is worried, she is scared but she was staying positive.
The first 24 hours in the hospital they found three blood clots. One behind her left knee the other two in her lungs.
Sadly the person 1,006 miles away is her older adopted sister and well she’s not new to any of this. She talked to the nurses and doctors daily. She knew that things weren’t going to go easily like Angela was hoping. The doctors were telling Angela they were treating her mass as if it was cancer without a biopsy.
Finally Angela was being released from FWBMC. Her hemoglobins were at 9.7 Her blood sugars were normal and the surgery to have the blood clots shrink and drain properly was done.
Angela now on Lovenox a blood thinner shot and Coumadin pills plus some low dose pain medication was released. This happened on January 9th
The next step was going to the Cancer Treatment Center in Pensacola, Florida about 40 miles away from where she lives in Ft Walton Beach. A biopsy was scheduled and done on January 10th
The results came back completely on Tuesday, January 14,2020
Angela has stage 3 cervical cancer with Aden-carcinoma with a survival rate of 5 years at a 32-35%
However, You see with cancer survival rates vary widely, depending on how far the cancer has spread at the time of diagnosis.
Angela is at Stage 3C1 which means it has spread to the lymph nodes.
She’s started the process for radiation and chemotherapy.
There still is no insurance and the income coming into the home is only a set income from social security for her mom that is 68 years old. Her mom also works very little now due to her age and needing to care for Angela. Her work is a taxi driver which doesn’t make a whole lot of money.
All of this being said Angela has not lost her spirit, beliefs and hopes that things are going to be ok. She is staying strong as she can. She doesn’t want to see everyone else sad or scared because she is sick. She just keeps finding the positive in the negatives which is something she has been told by her older adopted sister to do.
Reality is she needs help she is struggling to survive in her daily living, the trips to and from Pensacola are costly & there is nothing if the worse should happen paid for yet. She needs her older adopted sister to come to Florida and help prepare for the worse and continue to hope for the best. Mom can’t continue to do things alone. Angela is not one to ask for help but she’s learning to accept it.
If any of you could please donate to help Angela survive, fight, prepare and stay positive it would be gratefully appropriated. If you can’t it is ok please share this and keep her in positive thoughts and prayers. Thank you
