Our baby boy, Theodore, arrived almost 2 months early. We were in a bad car accident a few weeks prior to his arrival. We were just beginning to process his early arrival when, a day later, everything changed. We had to rush him to Cook Children’s Hospital for an emergency surgery on his bowels.

Theodore is now in recovery in the NICU at Cook Children’s, and we’re facing the reality that he’ll likely be there for the next few months before we can finally bring him home. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing care he’s receiving, but this has been an overwhelming and unexpected journey for our family.

The financial strain is already significant. We’ll hit our out-of-pocket maximum twice — once in December and again in January — and the medical bills continue to add up. On top of that, we are dealing with some lost income, and Mom really needs to stay focused on Theodore and not return to work right now with so much going on.

Funds raised will help us with:

- Medical expenses and out-of-pocket costs from Theodore’s surgery and NICU stay

- Lost income while we spend as much time as possible at the hospital

- Allowing Mom to remain home and present for Theodore’s recovery instead of rushing back to work
