Becoming a new mom while battling breast cancer is the unimaginable challenge Lauren Stasiuk will be facing in just a few weeks.
This summer when Lauren and Dan announced they were expecting, they were elated. It has been a year of huge life changes for them; they found out they were having a baby girl, they bought a new house, and purchased a vehicle for their growing family. But in September a bomb was dropped.
Lauren was diagnosed with Stage II, Grade III breast cancer. She caught it early, but it is a very aggressive cancer. Being young and resilient, her prognosis is good but her treatment will be intense. She and her health team have decided on a very aggressive treatment which includes 5 months of chemotherapy followed by radiation.
Baby Stasiuk is due in mid-November, and within a week of her birth, Lauren will begin chemo treatments. Most new moms know that keeping up with a newborn is exhausting and scary. Taking care of baby while undergoing cancer treatment is one of the hardest things imaginable.
The objective of this fund is to give Lauren and Dan a cleaning service for the next 6 months.
Her friends and family have already committed to helping with babysitting, picking up groceries, and cooking meals, and this was an area where I thought Dan and Lauren could use extra help. No one wants their friends scrubbing their toilet or cleaning their undies!
Anyone who knows Lauren knows that she's optimistic. She has been a ray of sunshine throughout her journey so far, and we would like to help her even more.
Please help me in supporting Lauren and Dan through the next year by making their lives just a little easier.
With sincerest gratitude and love,
