Helping The Patton Family In Their Time of Need

Donation protected
On Friday, June 12, only 7 months after Derrick became a self employed mechanic in order to stay home and care for his new baby girl, he was involved in an accident at the race track. While helping a friend work on his car in the pit area, his pointer & middle fingers on his right hand were caught between the blower belt and pulley of a dragster. He was transported by ambulance from Ennis to Dallas, where he spent 17 long hours awaiting Covid-19 results before finally being able to have surgery on his hand. His middle finger was amputated down to the knuckle and his pointer finger was cleaned / wrapped up in hopes that it would heal itself (and maybe even grow a finger nail again). Because of Derrick’s resiliency, we all know that this is only a temporary setback, however, it does make for uncertain times for his family. A few people have reached out and asked about ways to help him and his family until he is able to start working again. If you have it in your heart to make a monetary donation, feel free to do so. If not, please just continue praying for a quick recovery. Thank you so much for every prayer, share, and donation you make. It means so much to Derrick, Ambre, and Mariah. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Update from Derrick’s wife, Ambre: Derrick went to the doctor yesterday. He spent over 2 hours in the room. He soaked his hand in hydrogen peroxide to help the bandage loosen and got shots again to numb the hand. The doctor pulled the bandage off and examined the work the previous doctor had done. Admittedly, he was less than impressed with the job they did on survey, and was very confused why she didn’t go ahead and fix the index finger. He couldn’t even believe it was the work of a hand surgeon Despite these things, he said his middle finger looks like it’s healing excellently. However, he doctor says that Derrick will need surgery on his index finger. The suggested surgery would have the pointer finger bent down against the pad of his hand and sewn together for 2 weeks. During this time, his finger will re-grow the necessary tissue to heal. After the 2 weeks are over, they will seperate the hand and the finger. At that point, the finger will be able to begin healing. Long term, this surgery will allow him to keep the use and feeling of his finger, which is why the doctor prefers this for him as a mechanic. The doctor wants this surgery to happen ASAP. We are looking at scheduling it for Tuesday. The hospital is supposed to call at some point to talk about pricing, scheduling, and our options going forward. In the meantime, please please please keep praying and sending happy thoughts our way. Derrick has been so touched by all your kind words, prayers, donations, etc. Every time he gets on Facebook, he becomes emotional. While it’s unfortunate that we can’t help his finger heal faster, we have definitely helped his heart heal during this time. Full transparency: we don’t know what we are in for at this point. We don’t know what the process for healing is, or how long he will be unable to work. If you aren’t in a position to donate, just know that sharing is praying is more than enough for us. We cannot say “thank you” enough times to even begin to cover the gratitude we are feeling. You all will never know what all of your support means to us. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
