As more and more women are coming home from Federal & State Prison who have done extensive time due to the draconian sentences from the failed drug war which have caused a tremendous hardship for themselves and their families, I would like to offer Angel kits to help with basic needs for their transition back into society.
These things would include but are not limited to:
Toiletries, clothing, shoes, a monthly metro card, a basic mobile phone, a decent meal, a pamper package (hair, nails) and a small initial stipend.
After spending time with my sisters Michelle Miles, Sakora Varone and Hope Edmond today, I realized how important it is to be able to provide these basic essentials to help with rebuilding confidence and promoting a support system that will help to get their lives back on track. As a formerly incarcerated woman, I was fortunate enough to have the support system and would like your help to provide the same for other sisters.
It is important to understand that people are getting released from prison, after doing these disgustingly long sentences without a dime.
I am asking for your assistance in continuing to provide for our sisters coming home. We know what a day at the salon can do for healthy self-esteem. Imagine what it would do for the spirit after serving 19 years in prison.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of The LOHM Angel Sister Fund.
