Hey! I'm Melissa Petersmann, also known as The Diesel Queen on social media. I have been a diesel mechanic for over 10 years, working mainly on heavy equipment and building my own trucks. It has always been a dream of mine to open my very own diesel shop! I have a passion for the performance side of the diesel world, and I want to build trucks for people!
The second part of this dream shop is to give local high school girls a safe space to learn in as an internship, or if they want to just see how they like turning wrenches! There is a program here that allows businesses to sign up with the local high schools to take on students for internships. I would LOVE to have a space to sponsor the young ladies who want to potentially pursue a trade! It's my way of doing my part to aid in the technician shortage in the USA. I love teaching!
The issue is, I don't even have a shop to work in! A LOT of unforeseen expenses came up when I bought my new property, and all the funds I had saved for a shop dissipated rapidly.
I really HATE asking people for help building my dream of having my own diesel shop. I believe in doing the work myself and doing everything on my own. But, I got some really good business advice from a very successful friend, and they told me to try crowdfunding before pulling any type of loan. When I asked my followers online if they wanted to help, I was blown away that over 90% of people said YES!
I don't agree with just asking for money for nothing, so I am going to do my best to give back! Once the building is complete, I will have a whole wall dedicated to all of you who helped me out! Anyone who donates a large amount of money will get their name put on the wall. Large donations will get larger print! It's a way for me to say thank you and have a visual reminder of all of you who chose to help me with my goals!
The quote I have for a bare minimum shop is 53k, but we will start small.
I seriously appreciate everyone who helps out! I really hate asking for help from anyone, so this is me really stepping out on a limb here.
Let's get Petersmann Diesel open and operational!
Thank you!
Melissa
