Brother and sister, Brian and Julie Davis were getting settled into their new place in Los Angeles, and were about to launch their own real estate company when a loan broker issuing their loans ($105,000 worth) stole every penny they had, devastating their life, ruining their credit and leaving them desperate for help.
Both suffer with disabilities – Julie was in Portland when her health insurance rent program shut down unexpectedly. Brian brought her to Los Angeles, where they agreed they’d start a real estate company together. Brian was listed as one of the top 30 under 30 realtors, has an MFA from LMU and Julie graduated from NYSS with an MFA in painting.
They are unable to gain assistance from a bank because the broker scam ruined their credit. They are trying to fight it, have tried to solve this themselves, but with no funds or resources, it’s been impossible.
We’ve put together this Go Fund Me because Julie and Brian fear they may be on the street soon, with an eviction hearing pending, and a threat to seize all of their storage, including Julie’s entire life’s worth of artwork, dating to when she was 4 years old. They are hungry (Julie has lost too much weight, simply because they can’t eat), need transportation to doctors, social services, and to be able to get to their eviction hearing.
They are dangerously close to losing everything. July 8th, their phones will be shut off and July 22, the storage will be auctioned off. They have prospective deals in the pipeline, an offer to hang Brian’s license in Beverly Hills, but they have to get their resources in line in order to move forward. This fundraiser will help them find stable ground and get the business running.
Because of their respective disabilities, real estate is the best path for them. Brian has already had an established level of success and has owned and operated brokerages of his own successfully. The industry pays what they need to survive and thrive. But they have to get to a point where they can do that.
Their biggest fear right now is being out on the street. Brian’s disability requires machines and devices that he will be unable to use in a shelter. If they lose their place, getting into a new one will be incredibly difficult. They are trying desperately to avoid that. Their family has turned their back on them, they are all each other has.
Their most urgent needs are:
-$3,000 immediately to keep Julie’s art in storage and save it from auction. This is her life’s work, she needs to pay the accrued monthly storage charges, the present month, and one future month. The artwork and studies awaiting her chance to have a studio again will be used for larger works and series, all of Julie’s art supplies and furniture will remain ready for her future art studio, and all of Julie’s School Notes and Notes For Teaching and Art Lessons and Future shows will be saved.
-Financial gifts in any amount to get the business going
-Financial loans in any amount to get the business going
-Guarantor for a new loan for business
-Referrals for people who want to Buy or Sell real estate in Oregon and California
-Transportation
-Storage services
They’ve lost $105,000 to this corrupt broker, who they will go after once they are on their feet and can retain legal assistance. They have to raise as much as possible, but for now, the most critical thing is paying rent, being able to buy food and saving Julie’s art. And they have until July 22nd to do it.
We hope you can help. The short term goal is $40,000 by July 22nd and they hope to be able to move forward from there.
Thank you for reading and thank you for your support!
