Hi everyone,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to view my GoFundMe and to read my story. I appreciate each tiny ounce of support from our community.
The Penguin and I recently made the decision to create a small business for me and my art. Lately, all of the positive vibes we have been receiving contribute a ridiculous amount of encouragement to our adventures while exploring this new terrain. To make our dreams even more successful, we are acting on the discovery that our biggest impact occurs in front of an audience - specifically at conventions.
We have one more convention in mind for this year. It is the Wizard World convention in Chicago which is taking place August 18-21. This could easily be considered one of the largest expos in Chicago (second only to C2E2) which translates to mass amounts of foot traffic and exposure for our business. This could be a gigantic leap for our company if we have the means attend.
Unfortunately, we recently discovered that the rules of the convention would only allow us to rent a specific size booth based on the scale of my drawings. The booth we would have to purchase is double what a typical Artist Alley booth costs. Whomp whomp.
Here is where all that support comes in. Because the convention is four days long, I'll be drawing four different characters based on the celebrities attending.
The money we are asking for will not only go towards the payment for our booth, but also costs for prints, canvas, paint, chalk, and transportion. (Maybe a snack or two if we get a break.)
Words have never really brought justice to the way I feel about folks who take the time to compliment my work, share it, pass it on, or take pictures. The fact that they even stop by to look is a compliment in itself and every other action is just cherries on top of cherries. Helping get The Chalk Girl to Wizard World Chicago could be a huge leap and exactly what we need break into the convention universe.
Your donation will not go unnoticed. Each person who participates will receive a free print signed by The Chalk Girl from the first run of prints we ever make! Yep. Cool, huh?
So, again, thank you a thousand-fold for taking the time to read this. I would not be where I am without the love and encouragement everyone has sent our way. Every once in a while it hits me like a wave when I remember how much people support us and our endeavor, regardless of the fact that it all is simply part of a dream - an artsy one at that.
Thank you for supporting our dream.
