So much has been going on at The Retreat At The Creek (as I've now named our property in Belton).

Getting the fencing finished for the bigger dog run is going slower than we'd hoped, but hubby and our Sunday helper, Levi, are getting on with it, slowly and steadily. Mama (who PAWS named Bonny) and Sonny have free running when we are there, but we have to keep Lady (PAWS' Lady Lou) on a leash as, despite being really clingy to us, when we tried her off the leash the other day, she absconded back over to the property where Animal Control had caught them all at. Mama tends to try to intimidate her, so we try to give her time away from her (riding around the property in my car or going and sitting down by the goats). We think possibly some jealousy as it would seem Sonny prob had a harem and Mama was the alpha of it.

We are still trying to pay off Little Bit's $2600 surgery. Losing her eye has not stopped her in the slightest. Despite acting all demure and nervouse at Cedar Lake, at home she skedaddles around like a Tasmanian Devil and terrorizes Brunel and Lightning, our 2 boys. We have brought her over to see her Mama and they were so excited with each other. Cedar Lake are amazed at how fast she is growing now, she was 16lbs at her last visit. She has one more to go, for her final shots and to get her rabies vaccine, and that will be September 23rd.

Animal Control taking 11 dogs from the property through the woods, was actually a blessing in disguise, as Mama, Sonny and Lady are all thoroughly vetted and Sonny was neutered and the girls, spayed. So my original goal of stopping the reproducing has been taken care of.

Unfortunately, there's still so much to be done. We have feral cats we feed now, and I need to trap them and get them vetted and spayed, plus we need to build some outside sheltered areas for them and the dogs, and some space heaters, especially with Winter fast approaching.

We're taking one of my fridge-freezers over there, as buying ice for the dogs daily is getting expensive, but with the excessive heat we've been having, I wanted to make sure they have cold water. That way, we can buy the big bag of ice and just use enough to put in their water, and the rest will stay frozen.

Baby steps though. Mama, Sonny and Lady are safe and loved, as is Little Bit.
