My name is Travis, and I’m reaching out because my family is facing a difficult chapter in our lives. I have a degenerative back and rib injury that has left me unable to work. As a result, I am losing my health insurance, have been denied Disability benefits, and am struggling with medical debt that I simply cannot pay, and I also have no way to pay to continue the necessary treatments. The stress of these challenges has been overwhelming, and I’m doing my best to stay hopeful and find a way forward.

Also, my son was admitted to Randal's Children's Hospital two times recently, once in September and once in December, each time for roughly two weeks. Upon discharge in September, he and his mother stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Portland so he could attend a partial hospitalization program for about 8 weeks, and he is now doing the same since his discharge from the hospital on New Year's. Because of my disability, I'm unable to care for him in Portland, so my partner has had to take that on, making her unable to work also. Leaving us with no income.

Before my injury, I worked full-time as a farmer and was a jiu jitsu coach for my team’s kids program. I loved being active and giving back to my community, but now I’m unable to do the work I love. I was the main financial provider for my family, so this situation has been especially hard on us, especially now that my partner is on unpaid leave to care for our son in Portland. The financial strain has made it hard to cover basic living costs, including health insurance, medical procedures, food, and transportation. Some of the procedures I need are out of state, and without the funds to pay for them and the travel, I risk becoming permanently disabled.

I am deeply grateful for any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story with others who might be able to help. Your kindness will help me pay off medical and other debts, access the care I need, and hopefully get back to the life and work I love. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can offer.
