The Mother Harris Food Pantry/Feeding Families
In response to community needs, Patterson Elementary School and Faith Presbyterian Church in Anacostia D.C. collaborated to establish the Mother Harris’ Food Pantry in October 2018. As the number of families needing assistance grew, the partnership found a need to assist families by providing food to the whole community, towards the end of each month. The Pantry supplies families with basic food needs, and during the Holiday season, a complete food package is given to all families. Turkey and hams are provided along with all the fixings. Pies, candy, nuts, and other extras help to make the holidays special. When possible, emergency deliveries are made at any time that food is needed. If non-food items are needed by a family, the Pantry aims to ensure these items are made available.
Our Goal
As part of our ongoing service to the community, Faith Church has served over 50 meals per month. Our goal is to raise $6K to fund the Mother Harris’ Food Pantry Feeding Families and to increase the number of meals given away this year.
On behalf of Faith Presbyterian Church, we offer a heartfelt thank you and God bless.
Please note
Santanya Mahoney is the treasurer for Faith Presbyterian Church. All funds will go directly to Faith Presbyterian Church for support of The Mother Harris’ Food Pantry.
