On Tuesday, February 22nd the facade on what it affectionately known as the "Dr. Ben's" house fell off from the top two floors of our beloved home. We've had to erect an emergency shed and the Department of Buildings has restricted any use of the build and the one adjacent to it (724).

 

Dr. Lewis, renown doctor of the people and health expert, he and his family were displaced and have not been able to access the building or any of their belongings since this terrible event.

 

The house, this house, OUR house has been a staying and strong point for the community since 1984. There have been many dignitaries and diplomats from nations far and wide that have called this home from one time or another. For years this was the home of a long-lived lecture series and forums and holds a small library of Dr. Ben's books. There have been countless number of community meetings as well as political rallies there. It has served as the headquarters for many grassroots organizations. We have all experienced parties, baby showers, funerals and repasses, graduations, weddings and many other social gatherings there.

 

He and his family has served their community for years. Anything that you can donate is and will be greatly appreciated.
