Thankful Community Room

For some years now, Thankful Memorial Episcopal Church has been growing – in number, in Spirit and in faith. We have welcomed more families into our Thankful family and especially more children! We have deepened our commitments to Christ’s mission both within and outside our walls. We have developed our common life together in worship and fellowship within beautiful but deteriorating buildings and grounds that our ancestors bequeathed to us.

Now, we have come to a critical moment in our parish life where we can finally be better stewards of the resources we have and further put them to use in our growth and outreach to the community around us.  We dream of making all the spaces in our sanctuary into places accessible to members of both our own community and the larger St. Elmo community so that all can find hospitality, refuge and spiritual nourishment here at Thankful Memorial Episcopal Church.

And we have achieved our initial goal!  The community at Thankful raised more than $300,000 to update and renovate our properties.  But, unexpected and significant water intrusion issues have nearly doubled the costs of our projects.  And, maintenance and accessibility, hospitality and generosity are ongoing aspects of our life together.  So, we hope to raise additional funds to be able to move forward with the renovations needed and to maintain the spaces we create so that we can continue to be good stewards of the resources we have been given.

Naming opportunities for our Community Room and other aspects of our parish renovations are still available.
