Texas Farmer Winter Storm Relief

Donation protected
Small, sustainable family farmers and ranchers in Texas urgently need your help!

On the morning of Thursday, February 12th, an unprecedented week-long freeze hit Texas, affecting thousands of farmers and ranchers.  We prepared by covering field crops, laying hay for our animals, and filling propane tanks to heat our greenhouses. Despite our best efforts, even our most hardy farmers have met their match. Our efforts were thwarted by sleet and snow, subfreezing temperatures and loss of electricity and water.

We have spent day after day working in the cold to tend to our animals and livelihoods, often spending hours breaking up ice in stock tanks just to go back to cold homes. We have lost our crops, eggs have frozen, greenhouses have collapsed, and infrastructure destroyed. Now, as we always do, we look toward rebuilding, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help TODAY to get our farmers and businesses back on our feet so that we can get back to doing what we do best – supplying our communities with sustainable, local, and humanely raised food.

Thank You!

Which Farms Will Benefit?
2/19/2021 A steering committee is developing the application and selection process.  We expect to release the application by 2/27/21.

The intention of the steering committee is to  distribute funds to Texas family farms who have suffered losses due to this freeze.

The fund will provide relief for small and medium-sized farms across Texas, focusing on those using sustainable and organic methods, giving priority to farmers of color. Funds will also support future disaster relief work and ongoing climate adaptation for farmers.
