New Campus for Texas Empowerment Academy

Help us make history while leaving a legacy in Austin, Texas. 

Texas Empowerment Academy is the only majority African American Charter School in Austin, Texas.  The mission of the school is to provide students with a sound education in a nurturing and stable environment conducive to learning and academic excellence.  A culturally relevant education is necessary for freedom.  We believe that education is freedom, and Texas Empowerment is Education. 

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement started 7 years ago.  Texas Empowerment’s existence is “Black Lives Matter,” and has been in existence for twenty-two years as a resource and solution to education inequity in the community.  

Currently, we have 376 students, and a waiting list that we are unable serve due to limited space. Our goal is to build a new campus that will allow us to double our population to 800 students.  75% of the funding will be from a bond, and 25% will be privately raised.  

We plan to break ground in 2021, and move into the new campus in the Fall of 2023.
