SAVE BABY TEDDY'S LIFE: Urgent Support Needed

Help Baby Teddy Survive and Reunite the family, to begin weaving together the lives and love that have been apart, since his birth.
I’m Lori, Teddy’s grandmother, and I’m reaching out with a desperate plea to save my grandson, Teddy, born March 6, 2025.

I can't tell you how surprised we all were when Teddy was born, struggling to breathe on his own, and unable to feed on his own. The shock to all of us continued as Teddy has been in the NICU every since then while doctors try to figure out what's wrong. What was anticipated as a couple of days stay, has now turned into major health concerns and three Hospitals so far as doctors try to figure out what's going on.

At birth, Teddy was first at a local hospital; then transferred 2 hours away, and recently airlifted to a top Children’s Hospital 6½ hours from home. My son Jason, his wife Miriam, and their 4-year-old son William are fighting to keep things together while facing overwhelming medical and financial challenges.

If you can help even a little, or share their story, it would mean the world to them and us.

Teddy relies on machines to survive, having endured terrifying episodes where he stopped breathing. Most recently, a code event shook the family to its core. I wasn’t there, but Miriam, my daughter-in-law shared how the alarms blared as doctors rushed to save him—a moment that still haunts her.

A pediatric neuromuscular specialist evaluated him after the incident and determined that his muscles are fine, which is a relief. But the fight continues. Doctors are now arranging for a geneticist to meet with them, suspecting a possible genetic problem that could require long-term care.

They’re also preparing for a critical test next week to determine if Teddy’s lungs can handle less support. The longer he stays in the NICU, the greater the risks.

Miriam stays by Teddy’s side, living in Ronald McDonald Houses and holding his tiny hand through endless tests. She told me that just before the code event, she saw Teddy’s eyes flutter —a small sign of hope that keeps her going. Even after the code event, Teddy let out a tiny sigh as Miriam caressed him during a quiet moment of strength that reminded her he’s still fighting.

Meanwhile, Jason cares for William, their 4 year old - at home, shielding him from the chaos. Before this nightmare, Miriam, Jason, and William spent sunny afternoons in their backyard garden, planting flowers and tending to their chickens—laughing as William named each hen.

Now, the distance tears this loving family apart. Miriam sends William daily photos and videos of Teddy, like a clip of his tiny hand grasping her finger. She narrates, “This is your brave brother Teddy—he can’t wait to meet you!” Jason and William watch these updates together during their quiet time. William sings “Twinkle, Twinkle” to the chickens, imagining he’s singing it to Teddy, his little brother.

But William hasn’t been able to meet his brother in person. During the two trips he and Jason made to the hospital, strict NICU rules for young children kept him out. This deepens the family’s longing to be together again in the same room, holding Teddy without the burden of the machines that are currently keeping him alive.

Friends, family, neighbors, and Jason’s fellow Veterans have started rallying around them, organizing small fundraisers and sharing Teddy’s story. I’m hoping you’ll join us in this fight to save Teddy and support his family.

The financial strain is crushing. Jason, a Veteran, is navigating limited VA support that doesn’t cover Teddy’s specialized care. Miriam, still paying off student loans and working a new job with minimal benefits, has no sick leave to cover her absences.

Travel costs are piling up—car rentals, gas, and lodging. Food, supplies, and looming medical bills add to the burden, with no diagnosis to predict costs.

We urgently need $20,000 to give Teddy the best chance at survival and keep his family together.

Your generosity will help:
- Travel and lodging: Car rentals, gas, and Ronald McDonald House support ($5,000).
- Living expenses: Food and necessities for Miriam at the hospital ($4,000).
- Lost income: Relief for reduced work hours ($8,000).
- Medical costs: Equipment or uncovered bills ($3,000).

Even a small gift makes a big difference. Just $10 buys Miriam a meal to stay strong for Teddy. $25 covers gas for a rare trip home to William. $50 helps with medical supplies and travel for family support.

Your support will provide her a meal and housing at the hospital so she doesn’t have to spend more time away from Teddy, where every moment by his side gives him the strength to keep fighting. It will also let Jason keep William’s world stable with bedtime stories and hugs, giving them the strength to keep fighting as a family.

if you are unable to donate, we humbly ask that you share this story with everyone you know, and most importantly pray for our little Teddy.

Please share with #SaveBabyTeddy, #TeddyFights, and #HelpTeddySurvive—

Every share brings us closer to hope. Let’s spread Teddy’s story far and wide! I'll post weekly updates on Teddy’s medical milestones, and family moments, like when Miriam and William can finally hug again.

You’ll see the light you’re bringing to their world.

Please, help Teddy and his family in this critical time. Your love is their lifeline.

With all my gratitude,
Lori “GaGa”
