TAKING ELITE VENEZUELA WOMEN'S TEAM TO THE WORLDCUP!
After 20 years, the Venezuelan Women’s Team has qualified for the 2020 Ultimate Frisbee World Cup. The 7 day tournament will take place in the Netherlands with the participation of 50 nations.
While we have made some great strides in collecting funding, the Women’s Team of Venezuela still has a lot to accomplish. We have 8 remarkable athletes who still cannot afford attending to the World Cup. The clock is ticking, the tournament fees are due in January and we need your support to be able to take these athletes to this one in a lifetime opportunity.
To be able to participate at the World Cup, an athlete requires about USD 500 for Player Fees, USD 200 for uniforms, USD 1,000 for accommodation and meals and close to USD 1,500 for flights and transportation, for a total estimated cost of USD 3,200.
Everyone has the right to Dream
The “Venezuela to the Worlds” project began several years ago as an elusive dream for a fierce group of female athletes under the premise that:
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to fight for what they believe in”.
It is no secret that Venezuela is currently living one of the worst economic crisis in human history. The country’s annual inflation rate is of about 1,300,000% leaving many Venezuelans struggling to afford basic items such as food and toiletries. For our athletes who are still living in Venezuela -a country with a minimum wage of $6.70 a month- a full year’s salary does not even cover the cost of shoes for a tournament.
If you are wondering why you should help out a bunch of women participate at a world cup, the answer is simple… in a country with dreams are crashed on a daily basis, helping athletes change their reality will empower them to become impactful leaders. It is these leaders who in turn will give back to their communities, using their remarkable stories to inspire those around them.
Without a doubt, this is Venezuela. It is a crisis, chaos, and uncertainty. But also it is also talent, effort, commitment and love as demonstrated by these athletes born in the “land of grace”. AYUDA A VENEZUELA A IR AL MUNDIAL 2020!
El Ultimate Frisbee en Venezuela tiene años creciendo y desarrollándose hasta convertirse en el deporte de alto nivel que es hoy en día. Pero en los últimos años se ha visto abandonado dado al éxodo masivo de atletas y la población en general, en busca de mejores oportunidades y un futuro mejor.
Aquí estamos, un grupo de atletas enamoradas de nuestro deporte, practicando Ultimate Frisbee en los más altos niveles, regadas por el mundo, tratando de llevar a Venezuela al Mundial.
Finalmente, después de más de 20 años Venezuela se ganó un puesto para WUGC 2020 World Ultimate and Guts Championship en Leeuwarden, Netherlands. Pero dada la precaria situación del país y la completa pérdida de valor de la moneda nos vemos en la difícil situación de poder llevar un equipo completo a representar a Venezuela en este evento.
Principalmente por las atletas aun viviendo en Venezuela que ni con el salario de un año pudiesen costear la mitad de este torneo, pero también por las numerosas inmigrantes que no solo trabajan para vivir el día a día, sino que también envían ayuda a sus familias en Venezuela.
Así que aquí nos encontramos, contactando a la comunidad, con la ilusión de poder cumplir este sueño. Cada dólar que se done será invertido en costear los gastos necesarios para participar con la Selección Nacional Femenina. Llegaremos al Mundial de Ultimate en Holanda con la mejor energía posible, con la certeza de ofrecerles grandes juegos para disfrutar; partidos llenos de buen espíritu de juego, respeto y alegría… Desde lo más profundo de nuestros corazones GRACIAS, por tu colaboración.
