Get Sissy Walking - Spinal Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Our mom, Sissy Shaver had a sudden spinal stroke leaving her paralyzed from the waist down on the evening of March 23rd. She is currently at Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, undergoing an inpatient rehabilitation program. From what we know, she’s suffered severe damage on her T11 vertebrae due to a blood clot which caused the spinal stroke. Spinal strokes are very rare, and account for less than 1% of all strokes.
We are praying and believing in a full recovery in hopes she will be able to walk again. While her journey ahead will be months to years, Sissy is committed to her recovery and is so very thankful for her family and friends who have been praying for her and checking in on her while going through this traumatic event. Your kind and encouraging words have meant everything to her while she has been dealing with this, especially with no visits allowed during the current pandemic. Sissy is strong, and we know she can get through this.
At this time, several ADA home modifications like expanding doorways and making household areas wheelchair accessible have taken priority for her tentative discharge date in May. As you know, modifying a home can be costly, compounded with medical expenses. We are asking anyone and everyone we know who is willing and able to donate to help supplement her needs. We thank you already for your support, and we will keep you updated on any changes. Funds will be withdrawn by myself and delivered to my parents.
Remember to like & share with the hashtag #TeamSissy so we can get the word out. Sissy has touched so many lives, and I know we can get her walking again. #TeamSissy
