Repair and Save Shane’s Legs
Hello, this is Sandi Moree, the aunt of Shane Goodson. I am starting this campaign to raise the $3,000 medical deductible for (3) surgeries that Shane needs to correct a vascular condition "CVI" (chronic venuous insufficiency) and for being unable to work the last 2 months. Without the surgeries, he may lose his legs.
Medical Background: For the past 4 years, Shane Goodson suffered constant swelling in his feet and legs. After many doctor appointments in the first year and "not finding anything wrong", the doctors finally found a blood clot. He was admitted to the hospital but the only treatment was medication to break up the clot.
For the next 3 years, Shane’s legs kept swelling up and turned blue/purplish. The swelling would subside ONLY if he stayed off his feet for a few days.
Fast forward to the last two months of back to back appointments and missing work, Shane finally found a doctor who diagnosed his condition as CVI. He has been told because it was not treated sooner, he will need 3 surgeries to repair and ultimately save his legs.
CVI develops when the veins and valves are weakened to the point where it is difficult for the blood to flow up to the heart, and blood pressure in the veins stays elevated for long periods of time, leading to CVI.
Common occurrences of CVI:
-Blood clot in the deep veins of the legs (known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT))
-Vascular malformations
-Extended sitting or standing
-Other unknown reasons
Please google CVI or click here for more info:

Personal Background: Shane is a Telecommunications Crew Foreman (repair and construction of cell phone towers) working 10 hour shifts that requires long periods of standing. His job is several hours from home so he drives extensively back and forth on weekends ( many hours of sitting).
Shane and Tina have 3 children between them (one of whom he pays child support). He is also the primary provider and legal guardian of 3 other children (brothers and a sister who would have been separated if put in foster homes). Tina works part time to be home for all the 5 kids, ages 6 through 15.
Due to missing work for the last 2 months and Shane not wanting anyone to know of his medical and financial issues, his family is now in dire need of help for: meeting the medical deductible and bills (rent, utilities, food, etc).
Also, Thanksgiving and Christmas is around the corner! Shane and Tina have opened their home to their families during the holidays for the past several years. Unfortunately, this year they will not be able to do that.
Shane is a very proud, hard working man who does not like to take “charity”. Tina and his mother had to convince him to accept help.
Any amount of donation would be sincerely appreciated and I know my nephew and his family would be eternally grateful. If you know Shane Goodson and the campaign organizer, and live in our area, and would like to donate/help in a different way (i.e. food, gift cards, etc) please contact the campaign organizer.
Again, on behalf the family and myself, thank you so much.
