Jon Morgan's Cancer Expense Fund
Donation protected
Hi there, and thanks for reading this. At some point in our lives, we all have stuff that comes and smacks us upside of the head. And with that, I’d like to introduce you to Jon and Aly Morgan.
Jon and Aly are a fun-loving, happy, hard working and committed couple. Jon is a journeyman electrician, has an insatiable obsession with Star Wars and loves hiking in Forest Park. Aly has an amazingly contagious laugh, a huge heart for helping others and loves all things art. They are loved by many people, and right now, they need our help.
Here’s what’s going on. Jon is 37 and was surprisingly diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer. He quickly started treatment, but because it’s stage 3, it is a long and uncertain road ahead. Likely, 10-12 months between chemo and radiation, multiple surgeries, a second round of chemo and time to allow his body to heal in between surgeries. Whew.
Jon and Aly need help to cover additional expenses like medical co-pays, time (not compensated) off work, extra items Jon needs to deal with the side effects of his treatment, and things like pre-made easy meals when there is no time or energy to cook. While we can't anticipate every need that may arise, we know there will be many.
Jon is a determined soul, and he continues to work as long as he can each day. Of course, this depends on how he feels. Doctor's appointments have been many, and even in these early stages of chemo and daily radiation, he has had to take time off because of fatigue and some nasty side effects. Since he’s been at his job just over a year, he’s already used his allotted sick leave and vacation time. They are facing a challenging gap in income.
So. This is a rally call to support Jon and Aly as they dive in and navigate this next chapter with grace and dignity. I’d like to help them focus on Jon's treatment and recovery – and not on the ‘gap.’
As we all know, cancer doesn’t discriminate. This could happen to any of us. Whether or not you are able to donate, please consider sharing the link to this fundraiser by email or on social media with your friends and family so that we can reach as many people as possible. If you can donate, your donation today is greatly appreciated.
With your help, we can make a small part of this process less worrisome.
Thanks for being a part of Team Morgan. Love to all!
