Help Jacob fight against Retinoblastoma

Hi, my name is Jacob Daniel. I am a happy 4 month old baby boy. When I was born there were no complications, no defects , just simply a perfect human being. Heart beating perfect.. Both eyes and hearing were great! Everything came out perfect! Little did we know.... That was not true. I was sitting in my bouncer when I was about 2 months old when my mom noticed a glow in one of my eyes. She kept telling my dad what she was seeing but he couldn't see it. Finally 2 weeks went by and my daddy finally saw the glow my mom was talking about. That night felt so long, waiting till 9am for my doctors office to open so we can call and get seen. After making the appointment we went in and saw a doctor, there they looked at my eye and told my parents that my eyes were good. There were no problems and that my eyes were perfect. My parents insisted there was something wrong so the doctor offered that if we were that worried about it, that she can have a second look which we had to make another appointment for that. 2 more weeks went by and finally my appointment came up. We walked in and when we walked into our room a different doctor came in. Thank god for that moment. My parents explained what was going on. She took a look into my eye and what she did caught me by surprise. She had turned off the light which we later found out was the correct way when checking eyes. She must have seen what my mommy saw. From there off I was, heading to a specialist. I was referred to an ophthalmologist. When I got there I had these numbing eye drops put into my eyes. I cried when they were examining my eyes. One after another next thing I know, I had two more doctors coming in to make me cry some more by looking into my eyes. They left the room leaving my mom and dad wondering what are they seeing? Are they seeing what my mom and dad see? Sitting in a room watching more than half the movie toy story, finally a doctor comes in... She sits down and immediately I know something is wrong. She sits down and says "We found a tumor inside your sons right eye, we need to treat it or if not your son can die." Just like that, one day I'm happy, playing, and laughing next thing, I'm dying! My mom and dad cried so much. They couldn't believe what they were hearing. I'm only 4 months old. How could this happen to me. How did this tumor develop without anyone knowing. That day was probably the worst day for me. On February 12th 2015, I was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma. A rare cancerous tumor found in young children. Retinoblastoma is a childhood cancer arising from immature retinal cells in one or both eyes and can strike from the time a child is in the womb up to 5 years of age. This cancer is curable if caught early enough. My parents were in shock. They didn't know what to imagine. This was all new and fresh. My dad and mom cried so much everyday.. In and out of the hospital the past couple weeks.. We find out that my tumor has blocked my retina.. Which was possibly making me blind by one eye. If we did not treat now, I can possibly lose my sight or eye! This was all hurtful news to my parents. We had to make a move, quick before it got worst. They gave us information on the benefits behind removing the eye which will remove the tumor itself from the eye.. Or the other choice was chemotherapy. I KNOW RIGHT!!?? Chemo!! To a 4 month old?!! This was the only way to save my life.. I started my chemo this past month.. Need to say I did a good job. I made mommy and daddy proud. And I still got a long way to go so I can show my family that I can beat this and become CANCER FREE! Unfortunately this hasn't been such a easy ride for my parents. When I was in my moms tummy, she was driving around in a car with no air conditioning and my daddy saved up to get us a new car. He finally got his chance and next thing you know we were driving home in a brand new car. They were super excited to put a baby car seat for me. Now they are faced with this difficult challenge. My mommy had to leave work to take care of me because having to go through chemo is a struggle. She had to learn how to monitor my acts day and night. Made sure the medications weren't giving me bad side affects. These were many hard nights for my mom. It was hard for her to leave a job that she loved. She worked at an elementary school with many young kids helping them with school work.. Since I'm my daddy's first child he is refusing to miss any appointments, which is making it real hard to make income. Bills are piling up. I know it's overwhelming for them. I ask for help for my mommy and daddy as they are helping me fight this battle against cancer. Anything can make a difference and I need my family to be okay through this tough fight. Please share this with your friends and family. I love my mommy and daddy so much. I don't want them to hurt anymore.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
