Gavin's Journey with Ewing's Sarcoma

ABOUT GAVIN
A 7-year-old boy from Delaware, USA, Gavin is known for making those around him laugh and smile. He is a loving son to his parents Jonelle and Brandon, a wonderful brother to his two sisters (5yo and 9yo), and a great student who is at the top of his 2nd grade class. Spider-Man is his favorite superhero, he's a Star Wars fan, and enjoys making awesome beats on his electric keyboard.
Gavin was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma – an aggresive form of bone cancer – in mid-January 2022. He has a painful tumor at the base of his tibia (shinbone) and the cancer has metastasized to his lungs. Though the doctors are hopeful, we will not know the prognosis until they have a chance to see how the cancer responds to treatment over the next few months. Currently, amputation is still within the realm of possibility.
Right now, Gavin is in and out of the hospital receiving progressively intensive chemotherapy. He has already braved two biopsies, countless pokes and prods, and will soon undergo a bone marrow extraction that could be used later as part of his treatment. He's taking this like a champ and has asked for a mohawk haircut before his hair falls out.

Gavin's parents are grateful to have health insurance and live in Delaware where Gavin can be put on Medicaid to cover many expenses like co-pays which would be out of pocket. They are also fortunate to live near a nationally renowned children’s hospital, so their transportation costs are minimal and there's no need to for lodging. Therefore, donations to this GoFundMe will be used to cover the portion of medical bills not covered by insurance, as well as the other unexpected financial burdens that families in these situations tend to encounter; such as having to take unpaid leave from work, meals purchased at the hospital, childcare and school transportation for their other children, someone to look after their pets so they can spend time together in the hospital as a family, takeout meals when you are too emotionally drained to cook, etc.
