As we look forward to our Thanksgiving breaks, we are thankful for all of the support that we have received from friends, family, and fans since we began our campaign almost a year ago. We are proud that we have the opportunity to be a part of the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider, vying for a spot at the 2016 Olympic Games, and we are energized to have the ability to compete for our ultimate goal: a gold medal in Rio.
The past year has been a learning process, and we continue to grow every step of the way. Our success in the 2013 470 North Americans and the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami secured our spot on the US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider. Carrying this momentum into the summer, we competed in 2013 Kiel Week, the 2013 470 European Championships, and the 2013 470 World Championships. These events helped us to establish ourselves on the world stage and to build a strong foundation for our campaign going forward.
As we come to the halfway point in our senior years at the University of Vermont and Dartmouth College, we are beginning to look towards the rigorous training on the horizon. This winter, we will be training at the US Sailing Center and competing in the 2014 470 North Americans in Coconut Grove, FL, in preparation for the 2014 Sailing World Cup Miami in January. We are asking for your financial support to cover the costs that we will incur in Miami. We are asking for $5000 to cover the cost of new sails, flights back and forth to Miami, food and housing.
When we graduate in June, we will enter full-time Olympic training, pushing forward on our journey to Rio. With your support, you can be beside us on this exciting journey ahead. Thank you for your continued support. Every little bit helps us get one step closer.
