***UPDATE***
It is with an absolutely shattered heart that I share the news of Michael’s passing on Tuesday late morning We had no idea how fast this infection would take over and he battled fiercely through to the end. Surrounded by love & holding Rachel’s hands he left us and ran into Gods arms peacefully & pain free and that alone is what’s getting us to put one foot in front of the other. Please keep my sister and their two precious babies Willow & Wyatt in your hearts & prayers These funds will now be going towards service arrangements, life adjustments for Rachel and their kids and keeping together the everyday happenings while they navigate this unimaginable road.

Join our village & help support the Davis family!

Michael is a loving husband to my sister, Rachel, an amazing Dad to their two sweet kids (Willow 5 & Wyatt 2), a dedicated employee for Cal Fire and a truly great person with a never-ending heart for God.

The saying “it takes a village” has never been more true than in this chapter of life our family is about to enter.

In November of 2024 Mike went in for some blood work after not feeling well and later that week our family received the earth shattering call that nobody ever wants to receive, Mike had been diagnosed with cancer. To be specific, Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) a type of blood & bone marrow cancer. I will never forget the look on my sweet sister’s face when hearing the news and the heaviness we all felt knowing that this road ahead was going to be full of curves & pot holes.

Shortly after his diagnosis, he jumped right in to began his treatment with an initial lengthy hospital stay to start chemo which was when all of this became so very real for our family. Walking through the halls of the oncology ward you can feel a type of heaviness I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Making the best of it with a decorated chemo port pole, frequent visits from the amazing therapy pups (shoutout to Mango) and back patio family visits, Mike made it through the first hurdle and was released to outpatient infusion around the first of December and was able to enjoy the holidays and soak up some sweet family time.

After achieving a remission in December 2024, we got the gut wrenching news that Michael relapsed in February 2025 and the intense treatment process would be far from over. With his family behind him & his faith within him, he walked back in to treatment with his head held high and started the next chapter of this journey. Meanwhile my sister and Mike’s amazing wife, Rachel, has been holding down the fort at their home for their kids Willow & Wyatt. As parents we try to do everything we can to protect our kids and take the hits instead of them rocking their world but we can only do so much on our own. There is strength in numbers; strength from a village and we have one of the most incredible villages.

Mike has continued receiving care with the plan to be getting a life changing Bone Marrow Transplant; currently scheduled for the middle of July at Stanford.

This next chapter has already become and will continue to be the most challenging one for our family. Mike had been receiving care at Kaiser hospital this month (June) and was discharged early based on having steady numbers, only to return the following day with a blood infection that has quickly taken its toll on him the last few days. Once this infection is completely gone, he (along with Rachel as his caretaker) will be at Stanford Hospital for full body radiation & bone marrow transplant for about a month. Mike and the family will then have to remain local to Stanford Hospital for another 2-3 months post transplant once he is has been released.

The first month there will not only be the biggest hill to climb health wise but also mentally and emotionally as Rachel & Mike will be away from their kids for majority of those first 30 days while Willow & Wyatt stay with family until they can join them.

So sweet friends, family & kind-hearted strangers, all of this to say, we are humbly calling out to our village for help. Help for the Davis family and those of us helping to fill in the gaps that are bound to happen through this unknown, unimaginable, world-bending chapter of life. #DavisStrong

These funds will be used for -
  • Medical expenses that will continue to accrue
  • Housing for them and the kids after the transplant to be near Stanford for testing and Emergency Care
  • Caregiving for Willow & Wyatt
  • Loss of Michael’s monthly income
  • Loss of Rachel’s wages after having to close her business
  • Monthly living expenses; their monthly rent, house bills and car payment
