Help Cheryl Fight Breast Cancer
My name is Emily Casey, and I am raising money to support my hero Cheryl Cassedy with medical expenses as she fights breast cancer. Cheryl has dedicated 18 years to teaching 3-5 year olds with developmental delays and disabilities. She loves her work as an Instructional Assistant at A.M. Davis Elementary school, and is a beloved colleague.

Cheryl is known for her boundless positivity and generous spirit. She is a community builder who makes sure everyone feels included and important. When I was grieving the loss of my father in 2019, Cheryl taught me how to kickbox and stayed after school with me every day to "kick the crap out of cancer." When our school shut down during the COVID-19 crisis and many members of the school community felt isolated and lonely, Cheryl created a Zoom workout class and gave everyone an opportunity to be together. When a student at our school seems unhappy, she approaches them with encouraging words and can quickly flip their frown. She has helped so many children learn how to cope with strong feelings, solve problems, and become independent. I have been so incredibly lucky to teach with Cheryl these last 3 years and look forward to many more years together.

Cheryl was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2021, and is preparing for chemotherapy this summer, followed by surgery and radiation. She is not someone who asks for help easily, and also knows that she cannot do this alone. This fund will help provide much needed financial assistance to help cover medical expenses.
While insurance will cover some, out-of-pocket expenses include:
- $750 deductible
- $4000 co-insurance payments
- Cost of medications and suppliments
Additionally, Cheryl relies on the supplimental income from working Summer School and riding the Special Educaion bus before and after school. As she undergoes treatment, she will not be able to make this money, which goes toward living expenses and rent.
Please give what you can and share this page with friends and loved ones. Hold Cheryl in your heart and pray for her recovery. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
