Hi everyone. My name is Kay Haywood. I work for Lowe's Home Improvement, Store 0729, in Columbia Tennessee. We are a tight knit family here. When one of our team is in need, we all come together to help each other out the best we can.
Several weeks ago one of our team members, Brian Lummis, was diagnosed with what they thought was Stage 3 lung cancer. Operable. Treatable. Hopeful. He's a strong guy and his wife Donna just as strong and supportive so yes, very hopeful. But after more tests and consultations, the final diagnosis was Stage 4 Melanoma in his chest, close to his heart and nothing to be done. Some radiation will be done but that's for some prolonging and quality of that life.
As a store family, we're all banding together to help Brian and his family with his medical expenses and their bills and any other needs they may have during this time so they can focus on one another without worries of how they're going to make their bills. We're selling T-shirts, looking at employee relief options and I've volunteered to develop his GoFundMe page hoping that those of you who know Brian outside of Lowes may be able to help in any way you can.
This is also a special cause for me because my daddy died from melanoma. I know the strain on the family and the strength needed to make the best of what you have. So it would mean a lot to me too to see them not have to go through the struggle we did, to not have to worry so much with the medical expenses, to make the most of every day they have.
And that's what he's doing now. He's stopping by work, he's living his life with his wife and children, he's being the strong guy we all know and love. Making the most of today, each day. And really, what else can you ask for???
We hope you can see this and help. Maybe pass it on to others who can help as well. No matter the amount, it's all greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you, on Brian's behalf, from all of us on Team Brian. God bless.
