Do you love the TV show “The Walking Dead”? Are you a fan of Andrew Lincoln (Deputy Sheriff turned Alexandria Safe Zone Leader, Rick Grimes)? Do you want to help children have a chance to reach their potential? If your answer is yes to ANY of these questions you’re in the right place!
Team Andy Lincoln is a group of fans inspired by Andrew Lincoln’s role as a celebrity ambassador for the UK Children’s Charity, Barnardo’s. Our goal is to support his mission and help raise money for this vital charity in its work to help the UK’s most vulnerable children. Here’s a bit more on Barnardo’s.
Founded by Thomas Barnardo in 1867, when he opened a school in the East End of London, England to educate destitute boys, Barnardo’s has been assisting the children of the UK for one hundred and fifty years. Over the years, the charity has evolved into one of the UK's leading children's charities, working with over 200,000 children, young people, and their families annually. Barnardo's runs over 900 local projects including counselling for children who have been abused, adoption services, vocational training and disability inclusion groups.
We are asking for help in raising funds to manufacture fundraiser T-shirts and rent fundraising booths/stalls at the Walker Stalker Conventions in Atlanta (2016) and London (2017) as well, as commissioning a thank you gift for Andrew Lincoln for his inspiration. Here are the specifics on what your donations will fund:
- Booth fees for Walker Stalker Con Atlanta October 2016, plus T-shirts and merchandise to auction for fundraising
- Booth fees for Walker Stalker Con London March 2017, plus T-shirts, shipping funds, and merchandise to auction for fundraising
- We published a fanbook for Andy in last year's fundraiser. This year we would like to commission the artist Paxton Mobley, who has created Andy's personal wrap gift for the cast a crew of The Walking Dead for Season's 5 & 6 to create a belt buckle for Andy as our appreciation gift.
To get things started we need to raise our funds by July 31, 2016 to ensure we can secure the booths and have time to commission the gift to be ready for October 2016.
Last year through the booths at the conventions we were thrilled to raise $13k which was donated in it's entirety to Barnardo's and would be ever so grateful if we could raise the same amount or more this year (and next) but we need more help in getting the word out and increasing the donations to support the fundraiser.
I have personally visited Barnardo's and cannot say enough about the people there and their commitment to helping children in need. It is an honor to support their mission and I hope you agree with me and help us support this great cause today!!
