Hello everyone. My name is Aubrey Benito and I’m starting this campaign for my uncle, Grecindo “Dandy” Turtogo, on behalf of my entire family. My uncle is a healthcare worker in the Philippines and was admitted to the hospital on February 4, 2021 due to Covid-19. This brought on a lot of further complications like pneumonia and kidney injury causing him to need dialysis 3x a week which could become a lifetime condition. Unfortunately, his state has worsened and he needed to be airlifted to a neighboring island in order to undergo Mesenteric Angiogram due to an unexplained internal bleeding. The current hospital he is admitted in is not equipped to do a diagnostic procedure to find the cause of the bleeding. That airlift alone is around 150,000 pesos which is roughly $3,000 on top of the hospital bills that must be paid and the medicine that has to be bought, not to mention the actual procedure. We are unable to transfer him until we settle the bills with the hospital. In other words, he can’t get the proper treatment he needs until we raise the funds.
My family and I are asking for help because we are overwhelmed by the accumulating medical expenses which is now around 5,000,000 pesos and rising. My uncle only made a little over $200 a month as an ambulance driver and my aunt, his wife, is unable to work because she contracted Covid as well. Insurance in the Philippines works differently than here so there’s no system in place to help alleviate the costs. My uncle and his family need $100,000 to help cover the rising medical bills.
For anyone that knows Tatay Dandy, he is a very compassionate, hardworking family man who can befriend anyone. Any amount donated will go a long way in helping him and my family back home. Please donate or share and help us bring Tatay Dandy home.
