Tanya Madison Morrison is one of the most courageous, inspiring and encouraging women you will ever meet. She is spirit-filled, graceful and beautiful… inside and out! Tanya is also very authentic and has always lived life on her own terms and to her own God-led rhythm. And now, this is how she is handling the recent unexpected diagnosis of lung cancer that has spread to her brain, spine and eye.
On May 17, 2016, a random visit to the ER revealed a 6-cm mass on her lung. How does a healthy, vibrant, 53-year-old nonsmoker who walks her dogs 3 miles daily, does yoga, drinks green juice and eats healthy end up with lung cancer? Who knows… but this is our family’s journey right now.
Tanya refused on-the-spot emergency surgery to collapse her lung and remove the mass. Instead, she courageously checked herself out of the hospital to process the information. Her greatest concern was how to share this challenging news with the family. Tanya’s unwavering faith, her belief in the Supernatural healing power of God, and the intensity of her condition prompted her not to choose conventional treatment (surgery, harsh chemo and radiation) that will possibly give her only a 2% chance of success with a few years of life. Actually, in July 2016, she was told she had months to live. Well, if you know Tanya, then you know she did not accept that death sentence.
Instead, Tanya remained steadfast standing totally on God’s Word. She continued to transform every area of her life, The 360 Way: spiritually, mentally, emotionally, relationally, physically, professionally and financially. You see, 360 Degree Woman, Inc., has been Tanya’s life work. As Founder & Visionary Leader of that organization since 2007, she has encouraged, inspired and equipped thousands of women to live an honest and balanced life – an authentic and fulfilled life – to become all of who God created them to be!
Tanya knew that in order to kill “nasty cancer,” she would now have to walk out her own teachings of transformation in order to heal.
Up until recently, no symptoms at all. No one knew her plight because she continued to LIVE! She shared only with her “small but mighty LOVE SQUAD!”
Suddenly, in July, debilitating symptoms hit, including loss of frontal vision in her right eye, severe back pain and loss of strength in her dominant right hand and arm. Being an avid reader and writer, Tanya was influenced by these incapacitating symptoms to become more scientific, researching the cellular, molecular, DNA makeup of her condition and taking aggressive yet thoughtful, methodical and strategic action.
After much prayer and research, Tanya is now working with the best integrative oncologist in the country, who is aligned with her belief system to help administer results-based DNA-chemo-sensitivity treatment. She and her parents have been in Reno, Nevada, since Sunday, August 7, 2016, where they will remain until Tanya is fully healed.
Unfortunately, Tanya’s medical insurance does not cover the cost of her selected treatment option since it is not aligned with conventional protocol (surgery, radiation and harsh chemo).
Her very specific DNA/genomics chemosensitivity treatment will cost well over $100,000, for 2 weeks of soft treatment to build her immune system and 3 additional weeks of low-dose administered chemotherapy. This approach has a 67% success rate with a gentler recovery process, as opposed to a 2% success rate for advanced stage IV lung cancer patients who choose conventional treatment. Certainly, the initial cost of $100,000 is a very small price compared to the $500,000+ for conventional treatment… and an even smaller price to pay in order for Tanya to live!
While in Reno, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, the nasty cancer tumor in Tanya’s eye ruptured, causing 100% vision loss. It is Tanya’s hope that her vision will be restored, though the doctors are suggesting removing her right eye immediately. Certainly, if this is done, a robotic eye will also be necessary.
