Tanya Ellis was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer December 30, 2015 at 41 years of age. Tanya has very publicly shared her fight with cancer, hoping to educate people on how to take a hold of their life when critical illness tries to win. After 5 surgeries, in which one almost claimed her life, chemotherapy, hundreds of blood tests and scans, 13 different doctors, and countless trips between Medicine Hat and Calgary, Canadian doctors gave her only 1,000 nights to fight (approximately 2.7 years) with a regimen of chemo treatment (not the pill kind) every two weeks to extend her life. They also told Tanya her cancer had spread to her abdomen and lymph nodes and they could not find her appendix in her last CT scan! In Canada Tanya is considered to be inoperable. 1,000 days? Tanya disagrees.

After 20 years of marriage, Tanya is desperate to grow old with her husband Tim; they just celebrated their big anniversary over breakfast at the Margery E Yuill cancer centre while Tanya was connected to a chemo machine. Tanya has two sons, Tripp (14) and Trigger (12), they each give her 1,000,000 reasons to fight cancer.
