Talen's Surgery Journey

Donation protected
Many of you may or may not know that my nephew Talen was hospitalized for a week for a mouth infection in October. (A mouth infection that was caused by a Dentist at a routine dental visit.) After a few different antibiotics not responding they decided to do more testing. During an MRI, they incidentally found a LARGE brain cyst on the right side of his brain. He has underwent hours and hours of testing since. A visit to the neurosurgeon at Children's revealed that it is recommended to remove the cyst due to it putting pressure and literally smooshing the right side of his brain. Amazingly it is not causing any damage as of now, but it will soon start to affect many areas of the brain. The surgery will be in January. A very intricate surgery where they will cut open the skull and take a piece out. Very scary to say the least. He will have the days following in the ICU, and then weeks of recovering at home.
This is taking a huge toll on the family and I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. This has definitely been one hell of a year for them. We are thankful that they found this and are acting quickly. I truly believe they will never take a moment for granted and are so thankful for family and Children's Hospital of WI.
Any little bit will help support the family through the tough days ahead.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and hug your loved ones tight. ❤
