Spay & Neuter Cornwall Cats

Cornwall, Ontario is well-known for its large population of stray and feral cats. Roy and Cher's Rescue Farm has been dedicating its time since 2013 spaying and neutering homeless cats. Last year Roy and Cher's brought approximately 100 cats to the vet for surgeries.
With thanks to Canada Summer Jobs, a government-funded program, Roy and Cher's was able to hire a student as a TNR Coordinator for summer 2018. Now equipped fully with resources, Roy and Cher's Animal Rescue Team is now taking on the challenge of spaying and neutering 50 homeless cats this summer.
More than $5,000 is needed to fund this project.
Research shows that feral cats (now referred to as "community cats" throughout North America) can minimize rodent populations in both rural and urban communities.
The procedure of spaying and neutering "community cats" is commonly known as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).
"In a Trap-Neuter-Return program, community cats are humanely trapped, brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and eartipped (the universal sign that a cat has been part of a TNR program), and then returned to their outdoor homes. TNR helps community cats by relieving them of the stresses of mating and breeding, and protecting them from diseases. Communities benefit from TNR because it reduces and stabilizes community cat populations, helps shelters focus on adoptions, and provides a humane and collaborative way to address concerns and coexist with cats." www.alleycat.org
