Support a short film! A story told through Dance

Introduction

We are an international group of filmmakers based in Prague, Czech Republic, preparing to create a visually striking, unique and powerful project. Starring two prominent soloists from the Czech National Theatre & Prague Chamber Ballet, this will be a short story told through dance. The story draws on the themes of finding the courage to face our demons, our shadows - the courage to accept our other halves. This dance narrative will also explore the co-existence of opposites, through the personification of Fire & Water.

The musical score for this piece will be a blend of organic, tribal and hypnotic electronic music, composed by Nior, one of Prague’s up and coming artists in its nascent techno scene.

The story will be danced by Jakub Rašek from the Czech National Theatre, & Natalie Paulasova from the Prague Chamber Ballet.

This project will be directed by Elena Omura, who is also the author of the project’s concept & vision. Elena usually works as a Director’s Assistant on International film productions, which have included The Wheel of Time Season 2 & One Life, directed by James Hawes, starring Anthony Hopkins, Helena Bonham Carter & Johnny Flynn. To date, Elena has directed and released a music video, which was released in June 2022: LINK . Another art video project by her was also screened at the Mutek.JP Festival in 2022 LINK . For this project, Elena looks forward to working with the powerful mediums of dance, music & camera language, to convey the character’s story arc.

Why we need your help

We are striving to create an original & striking piece, which touches on themes that should resonate with audiences worldwide. In addition to all the preparation that we are undertaking to produce the project, we are also crafting a strong marketing plan, which includes sending the final piece to festivals and esteemed streaming platforms such as Monument, Hate & Now. We will also be organising a screening party in Prague to kick off the project’s showcase and further thank all who have generously supported this project.

Our team will be working with camera movement, light, powerful choreography and set design, to ensure that the final outcome will be of very high quality, whilst resourcefully accomplishing this on a low-budget. However, as independent filmmakers who are also creating this piece to showcase their talent, we need financial support to realise this vision. Your support will help us to achieve this.
