The Talladega College (TC) Class of 1980 (the Class) will celebrate our 45th Commencement Anniversary from May 2-4, 2025. As Alabama's first private historically black liberal arts college, TC has upheld high academic standards for over 150 years. TC boasts a rich history, including being the site where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ambassador Andrew Young first met. The institution strives for educational excellence, as demonstrated by its recent designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (NCAE-C), a program managed by the National Security Agency (NSA) associated with TC's Computer Science Department Cybersecurity major/degree. TC is recognized by Princeton Review as one of the Best Colleges in the Southeast; by US News & World Report as one of the best national liberal arts colleges, top Historically Black College or University (HBCUs), and for social mobility; and by Kiplinger as a Best Value institution and the second-best college for low average graduating debt. TC has a promising future.
In celebration of this milestone, the Class aims to raise funds for TC to be presented during alumni weekend. This initiative has a two-fold goal: first, to secure unrestricted funds to support the mission of TC, and second, to directly enhance the quality of life for students by financially supporting the dining hall and the student food pantry.
