T.J. Matthies
This page was created to help raise funds for T.J Matthies medical expenses.
T.J. was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in October of 2015. In November the surgeons removed the tumor with hopes that it would remove all cancer, however in January 2016 Pet Scans revealed two more tumors. It was then that the doctors knew it was more serious and that Chemo would be needed. Twenty one Chemo treatments to be exact. Chemo started right away in January and the last one is coming up next Monday. While tumor markers are stable, they will not know for sure if Chemo worked until his next PET Scan. So prayers are also welcomed!
For most patients with Testicular Cancer there is a 90% cure rate, however T.J.'s case is anything but normal. T.J. had a kidney transplant when he was 8 years old, therefore leaving his kidneys very vulnerable. Most of us know that Chemo kills all good and bad cells, therefore rendering the immune system ineffective, with T.J. it becomes even more challenging due to the fact that his immune system is already compromised with the transplanted kidney.
As you can imagine T.J.s medical costs are adding up quickly and substantially. And because of T.J.'s other medical issues there are other medical Specialists involved to make sure all organs are maintaing and functioning normally. Thus increasing all his costs. This is why we are asking for your help.
I have known T.J. all his life, I was there when he had his transplant 19 years ago. I have never known this young man to ever be without a smile on his face. While he has had his share of challenges in his young life, he has never been a quitter. He has worked very hard to become the man he was created to be without complaint. He just does life on lifes terms. He would be the first person at your door to help you, and his heart is as BIG as the world.
Asking for help is never easy, and I am sure T.J. would agree, this challenge in his life is much bigger than he can handle alone. Any help is accepted with great humility, and gratitude. Thank you for all your support!
