Sykesy’s Recovery
As many of you already know Sykesy (Andrew) was seriously injured in a single vehicle rollover on his way home from work on Monday night.
He was transported off Flinders by helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital with a very serious head injury. He has remained intubated and in the ICU ever since. If there are no further complications the team of Doctors expect him to remain in the ICU intubated for a minimum of two weeks. He currently remains stable and they are managing the pressures in his brain.
For all of those who know Sykesy, he will have a go at fixing just about anything so we hold great hope that he will make a full recovery. However, the road to his recovery is going to be huge. When they do manage to successfully wake him from his induced coma his journey will only just be beginning. The doctors are unable to tell us what sort of brain damage he may or may not have. However we know his rehab will be extensive.
With three children, two remaining on flinders for school and a two year old based with Gran in Launceston. Being in Hobart away from home and the support of friends and family is and will continue to be a massive emotional and financial burden for the family.
As recently moved home to Flinders, Sykesy was employed casually and Sarah has not yet been able to secure a transfer of her permanent hours to the local hospital. Thus the lack of income, particularly until Sarah is able to return to work compounds this time of stress.
The outpouring of support and love I have witnessed from Sykesy and Sarah’s family, friends and community has been overwhelming. This is something that highlights just how much they are loved.
I have had multiple people contacting me offering money and asking how they can help Sarah and the family.
So in response to this with Sarah’s extremely reluctant approval I am creating this go fund me. With the goal of easing the financial stress surrounding this extremely stressful and heart breaking time.
Thankyou for supporting a great bloke and a beautiful family.
