I am leaving this up so I can update everyone who has supported her on her recovery.

While my wife and I were out last night, ( Wed., June 23rd)  we came across a homeless man and his dog who had just been stabbed multiple times. The police came to assess the situation, but the dog needed emergency care. She was bleeding out from open wounds and vomiting. We offered to take the dog to the Emergency Vet to get the care she needed before it was too late. The police helped bandage her up and get her to the car. The good surgeons at the VCA took her in immediately. We have been informed that she is fortunate, and the knife missed her vital organs! Unfortunately, she tore her colon and is still in intensive care, and will hopefully be out of the woods in a few days. However, there's still a chance of infection and complications. Given her surgery and continued care, we have to cover the initial hospital bills, which are hefty, and more may be coming (hopefully not)! We hope for a bit of help here as this is not our dog, nor will we be able to foster or adopt her.

She will be at the Vet's for the next 2 to 4 days while she recovers, and the plan is to find a foster to care for her while we find a suitable home. If you are interested, please let us know!

The man she was found with was suspected of and arrested for shooting at people on the Venice boardwalk. We are guessing that it was one of those people that ended up stabbing him and the dog. Nonetheless, this person is clearly not in the position to take care of her now. She will need at least a few more weeks of recovery and close supervision when she leaves the hospital. Unfortunately, we cannot keep her as we have 3 cats and are not allowed dogs where we live.
