Legal and Material Aid for Austin's Houseless

https://www.facebook.com/stopsweepsatx  https://twitter.com/StopSweepsATX The City of Austin, hiding behind the specter of Governor Abbott, is permanently displacing all houseless residents within a quarter mile of downtown shelters, including the ARCH and Trinity Center. People stay near this area because it's their best chance of getting food, blankets, and connection to social services. Now they are literally caught between the city and the state telling them, "you can't rest on the sidewalk and you can't rest under a bridge". Many residents are saying NO MORE SWEEPS. They are tired of being herded around while their possessions are stolen again and again. They are sick of being harassed and threatened by Austin police while they wait for stable housing. This fundraiser is for the legal costs associated with resisting the sweeps, as well as funds to replace any property stolen by the city or the state.
