Journey to a kidney transplant
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Susan Kelly Vitale. I was born with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). I was diagnosed in my early 20's and have been on blood pressure medication and other meds ever since.
In the last year my kidney function has decreased to the point that I now need a kidney transplant. Fortunately for me I have the most incredible sister, Judy Kelly Procopio, who is a perfect donor match for me! If it weren't for her selfless act of love, I would be now facing what so many others do: dialysis and perhaps a long wait on the kidney transplant list.
Although I have health insurance, unfortunately there are going to be several medical bills that will not be covered. And even though my sister and I both have great jobs that we love and are blessed to have, neither of us have the benefit of recouping lost wages while we undergo our hospitalizations and recovery.
Our surgery will take place on February 16th at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. All monies raised will go directly to pay medical bills and living expenses. Should there be any remaining money, it will be directly donated to the National Kidney Association.
All donations in any amount would mean the world to us and help alleviate some of the stress that goes along with a major surgery.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Susan Vitale & Judy Kelly Procopio
