Survivors unite for Kimberly

Like a vast number of us, Kimberly, along with her two boys, is a survivor of domestic violence.  The destruction continues, as she had lost and is unable yet to regain steady work since Covid and the ridiculous custody agreement and calendar which was forced upon her. Despite the fact that she earns next to nothing, she has to pay child support to her ex-husband who earns a six-figure income and she receives nothing after 16 years of mostly being a stay-at-home wife and mom. She has recently had to move to a trailer in the country, as it was the only place she could find that she could afford.  This has been a super stress-inducing situation.  Not only is the place infused with cigarette smoke from the last tenant (which is exacerbating her asthma) but the place also was infested with bed bugs.  Kimberly was covered in massive bites and her landlord has been very uninterested in remedying the situation.  Ultimately, Kimberly had to stay in a hotel twice, over a week in total, within the month since living there. She and her boys have been afraid to come back and worry about more bites, as she’s been severely allergic. She has lost countless days of work due to all the work getting rid of bed bugs, with little help. She has been running on fumes and had no choice but to keep going for over a month since she began preparing for the move at end of May, thus not taking care of herself. She needs some proper healthcare attention.  To top it off, last weekend, she collapsed when out and had to be taken to the hospital by paramedics.  She has been unable to function well since. 




Kimberly is in desperate need right now for medical expenses, house expenses (she can't pay her rent and most likely has to find another place to move to once the above situation is fully remedied), potentially legal expenses as her landlord is refusing to pay for the bedbug treatment or anything else that’s been needed, which legally should be the landlord's responsibility, and I haven't even talked about basic day-to-day expenses.  And then there will be child support to pay.




Kimberly is such a bright light in the lives of many of us.  She has a heart for abuse survivors and is trying so hard to put one foot in front of the other to get back to caring for them as a coach and advocate, and to move on.  Each day, she seems to be thrown another challenge.  




Imagine being in a place where you have NO friends or family to help you out.  NONE!  Please, let's pull together and help Kimberly know that she is cared about and that she can provide a SAFE place for her boys and herself and that they won't have to be afraid of going to their mom's and getting bitten.  Let's give Kimberly and her boys a chance to begin to thrive rather than just survive, which she’s done pretty well at the last 5 1/2 years despite some pretty awful circumstances.
