Wildland Firefighter needs help after motorcycle accident
Donation protected

Hi Friends and Family, just broke my leg in a motorcycle accident. I will need to undergo multiple surgeries and endure a long recovery. It’s hard for me to ask for help, nor have I been in such a position. To be honest, I am a bit scared.. to lose what I have worked so hard to build up.
Wildland Fire has been a part of me for about 10 of the best years of my life. Fire has helped me grow and strive to be the best version of myself, with ambitions to be a positive, problem solving workhorse for my community.
So last weekend, I was leaving my house, the weather was nice and traffic was somewhat light for a Friday afternoon. I’m pulling up to a red light, approximately 300’ ish down the road. There was a Tacoma a couple car lengths ahead of me.. I took my eyes off the road ahead for just a second, to scan for surrounding traffic. When I brought my eyes back to the front of my bike, the Tacoma had hit his brakes immediately for no apparent reason. There was no cars in front or around this truck. It kind of looked as if he was going to turn into the driveway, but didn’t have any blinkers on. I had a milli-second to make a decision, so I swerved hard to the right from dead center of his vehicle. I thought I had made it and was in the clear, when last minute my leg clipped his metal bumper at approximately 20 mph. Somehow I stayed up on 2s and slowly pulled over to the side of the road. I tried shifting into neutral but for some reason couldn’t find the gear. I pulled my clutch in and turned off the bike. When I tried to dismount, I just toppled over and the bike and I fell, crushing my other ankle(thankfully this ankle was not injured). I pushed the bike away from me and crawled few feet away, when I noticed my leg flopping around involuntarily. It was fucking disgusting and looked cartoonish. There happened to be bystanders who witnessed the incident and immediately called 911 and had the driver pull over. It was a gnarly scene and extremely painful. With all that said, my insurance company will not cover my expenses due to me “rear ending” the other vehicle, thus making me at fault. This makes it all very frustrating..
With a little bit of your help, you would benefit my recovery. With every donation made I will reach out and thank you personally, and offer an original signed photo from one of my many fire adventures.
